Bowie Knife

 

Bowie Knife
Named after Colonel Jim Bowie of Logan County, Kentucky. The knife is single edged, with a strong, straight back. The blade curves gently towards the strong tip. It was not originally made for fighting but has seen more than its share since its creation.

 

 

Dirk

 

Dirk
The dirk is what most would call your standard dagger. A straight bladed thrusting weapon.

 

 

 

Kris

Kris
Today kris daggers are mostly known for the wavy, snakelike style of their blades. Originally though a kris could be wavy or straight, what made it a kris was the way it was formed from three layers of soft steel or iron with even thinner layers between.

 

 

Stilletto

 

Stilletto
The stilletto is a double-edged stabbing weapon with a longer, thinner blade than most daggers.

 

 

 

Swordbreaker

Swordbreaker
Is a parrying dagger used in the offhand. It has a strong blade with several deep notches along one side to help catch an opponent's sword.

 

 

 

Tanto

Tanto
A Japanese knife it followed a similar design to the katana and wakizashi only much shorter. Straight blade, single edge.

 

 

 

Trench Knife

Trench Knife
Originating in World War I, the trench knife was designed for close quarters combat. It had a typical knife blade but the handle had a knuckle guard allowing it to be a punch weapon if need be as well.
